Not a bad deal at only $0.80 per disc!
In fact I would call that a great deal for Maxell 4x DVD-R discs!!!

I guess my lazy ass will have to get up early on Sunday though since I keep missing out on most of these current DVD sales because they all seem to sell out within the first couple of days.

  3. MicroDirect in Manchester are currently doing Infiniti Samurai various colours at £17.61 inc VAT for 50 spindle 4x -R. That's 35p per disc (63c). I've had two packs and no problems.

Nice of you to actually post something relating to Maxell DVD blanks and/or Staples.

Get a clue and learn to read the SUBJECT of a THREAD before making a pointless and worthless post.

    Thank you!!!

  5. it's a good deal...just like the office depot one 2 weeks ago. now that's grade-A media, same price as TDK @ bestbuy this week, but needless to say it's better quality.

(me patiently waiting for someone to say "get 100 Ritek for $50 instead".)

What were you thinking? The printables were around 1.20 each at NewEgg for so long.

Wow are you uptight or what? Isn't the subject actually good deals on blank DVDs? Chill out mate.

It may be worthless to you, but not to anyone who lives in the UK (whereas offers in Dollars at Staples ARE). I have posted loads of useful comments on here, this was intended to be another one, and I object to your rudeness.

    Get over it.

Oh and please enlighten me... So if it had been a 15 pack of maxells in the UK branch of Staples with the price in Pounds, would that be on topic of not? What if it was a 25 pack? Or a 15 pack of Verbatim at Staples UK?

Or are we only allowed to talk about 15 packs of Maxells costing exactly $11.94 at Staples USA?

  9. I guess we will have to wait until the 25th to find out what media codes this batch came from...although I guess it might be store/region dependant since last weeks Maxells from OD were split between TYs and MGs

The purpose of the SUBJECT is so that all posts within the thread are relevant to the subject, which is "15 Pack of Maxell at Staples for $11.94". Now I really don't see any of the terms MicroDirect, Manchester, Infiniti Samurai or £17.61 50 spindle 4x -R fits the subject. And no this is not a generic "cheap media" thread that you can just throw anything in, otherwise you could have posted that info on 75% of the threads on this forum.

TYs and MXLs are both good, you can't go wrong with either "Made in Japan" one.

OK thanks for explaining. Some of us just dip into this site occasionally and are not as 'into it' as others who seem to live and breathe the subject. Nor are we so familiar with the structure of the forums. I don't have time to browse everything. I saw the thread on the front page and saw it was in the 'Media' category. If it had been a Media > Maxell category then obviously I would have known not to post what I did.

The rudeness was completely unnecessary and does nothing to further this site or encourage people like myself who have not made 2000 posts and are only trying to provide occasional helpful info which may be of benefit to others.

It's ok rgs_uk , no harm done really. We all sometimes tread into areas of the unknown. Most of us realize you were only trying to offer some useful info and it is very much appreciated I'm sure. Take nothing personal here and I hope you continue on reading and posting.

Anyway, just don't fu(|<i|\|iG let it happen again you thread hijacking sob!

I think that one of the reasons that people get their heads bitten off, even if they're "newbies", is that there is the assumption that before posting to a message board, they will have a sense of netiquette. It is a completely understandable assumption that the very first site that someone visits upon entering the world of computers will not be videohelp.com. Similar to the assumption that you will know the rules of the road when you start driving. "Whoops! It's my first time." is no excuse when you've rear-ended some guys Porsche.

But, yeah, I'll be at Staples when they open. There's one in the Industrial area where no one shops on Sundays. I've scored some pretty good deals there because of that.

Staples seems to have the good deals that actually get me go buy some more media. The last good deal about 6 months ago was 10 pack of tdk made in japan in jewel cases for $8. I got there when the store opened and it seemed like they would sell out in an hour. This deal seems the same way.

  19. Be careful when you show up my friends. I was at my local Staples right after they opened this a.m. and there were about 10 of the 15-packs on the sale table. I found 5 that were Made in Japan, but the other 5 or so had a Made in Taiwan sticker slapped on. It's fairly obvious, so just keep an eye out for it.

The Made in Japan are, of course, genuine Taiyo Yuden goodness.

I bought all of their supply of those.

  20. Is this deal offered in Canada (Ontario)?

  21. WHat speed can the Maxell DVD-R's be burned at if they are the "Made in Japan" ones?

  22. I have the hacked firmware for my NEC2500A and they are burning at 8x. Stated at 4x on the spindle wrapper, though.

TY 4x media will burn at 8x with most 8x writers (hacked firmware or not ).

MXL media ID will burn 4x-6x depending on the burner, I think a couple may even burn at 8x, all with unhacked firmware.

Were the Made in Taiwan ones 1-2x speed? Never seen Taiwan made 4x Maxells.

First the 50-packs and now the 15-packs? Geez!

All of the 25-packs I have bought were TYs while the 10-packs (jewel cases) were MXLs.

NOW, I suppose I'll have to inspect each spindle or 10-pack to be sure "Made in Japan" appears on the label. I also suppose this kills ordering online because there's no way to determine exactly what will ship.
