hello, i'm trying to figure out how to obtain better quality audio in Dr. DivX. I've searched these forums a bit and found one answer that may help me do exactly what i want.

problem is i have both besweet and avi-mux and cannot figure them out for the life of me, i dont really know what i need to do exactly. I dont really like audio that goes up and down in certain scenes (VBR i think) so i believe a constant bit rate would be more to my preference. I dont know if i should try wav or mp3 conversion, i'm just trying to get better quality audio that what Dr. Divx produces, i think it possibly has problems in this area i'm not for certain but i tried all sorts of different combinations of settings and i think its a VBR audio only. Is there a guide to doing this that anyone might know of online somewhere or could someone possibly give me a step by step quickie on the matter?
If anyone knows of a better way to have nice quality CBR audio with an existing divx movie please by all means feel free to enlighten me![]()
Any and all help is always much appreciated. Thx.

Here's what you can do:
1 - Use DVD2AVI to extract (demux) your AC3 audio from your .VOB files.
2 - Use AC3Tool to take it to WAV
3 - Open the video file with no audio in VirtualDub, and go to Audio --> WAV Audio. Select your WAV file.
4 - Still in the Audio menu, select "Full Compression Mode" and then select "Compression". Use "Lame MP3" and select what you want. Why not use VBR (called ABR in VirtualDub) - it will yield better quality for less space.
5 - Go to Video --> Direct Stream Copy
6 - Go to File --> Save as AVI and save it. This will mux your audio with your video.
If anyone else knows a better method (this is a bit complex for a simple task) then please correct me!
If you don't want to do through all this again, try AutoGK (for newer users) or Gordian Knot (if you're up to something a little more challenging). Both will make a good job of the audio.
Hope this helps,
Cobra
