    The only problem that I have with your method is letting Nero do the conversion. It's a pretty crappy encoder, TMPGEnc is widely recommended but it won't accept the VOB's directly so you need DVD2Avi which will create a small intermediate D2V file and a wav audio file.

    Here's my method:

    Smartripper>DVD2AVI>TMPGEnc>VCDEasy

    You can probably substitute Shrink and Nero for Smartripper and VCDeasy. Look for DVD to VCD in the guides section and you'll find Sefy's guide, just follow his tool links.

    Here's a guide which will put as many minutes on a VCD as you like with a lot better quality than nero.

  5. Just as an "addon" to this thread, the new TMPGEnc 3.0 can accept DVD directly (if you use AnyDVD) and no longer required the DVD2AVI tool.
