New NEC 2500A w/ herrie's 107 V2 B5 firmware-max write @ 4X

I'm only using Ritek G04 DVD-R media and have already tried burning a few movies w/ DVD Decrypter and CopyToDVD and the max write speed is 4x even if I select 8x as the write speed.

Is there anything else I need to do to write at 8x?

Any help will greatly be appreciated.

G04's will only burn at 4X.

Try R01's if you want to burn 8X with Herries firmware.

Have you read the forums over there, discussing the problems with G04's ?

I use Herrie's 1.07v2b5 with my NEC 2500a in a USB2 case and I burn RiData Ritek G04 in 8-9 min for full DVD. I use DVDDecrypter, DVDshrink, cloneDVD 2 , Nero Recode and Nero and all G04 burns at 6x-8x (8-9 min's). Both pearl tops and the white top printables.

Everything I read says that the second half, after the jump from 6x to 8x is corrupted.

The disc burns ok, but when tested with CD Speed, or KProbe, the 8x portion is all errors.

I'm glad you got yours to burn, all others I read did not.
