  1. For some reason my friend rips a dvd in 15 mins and burns it in 15 mins on his laptop but i take 1 hour to rip the same dvd and 30 mins to burn it. i thought it was the tdk burner i had so i exchanged it for a lite on

    thats the model i have. i was wondering why it takes me so long. what should i do?

    make sure your dvd burner is set to DMA mode. Use this guide for XP on how to set to DMA mode.

  3. my dvd burner is slave so i changed device 1 under secondary IDE channel from "PIO" to "DMA if available" but current transfer mode still says "PIO mode" is there anyway i can change it? would changing it to master help? should i be under primary IDE channel? do i need to download drivers for my dvd burner?

    That link is HOW TO SET DMA IN XP MODE.

    You might want to set the burner to secondary master. Then boot pc and check your BIOS to see that the burner is being recognized. Then check to see if it sets to DMA mode. If it doesn't set to DMA then you may have to delete that SECONDARY IDE that the dvd burner is on. Then reboot pc. Use the guide above to set to DMA mode. If that still doesn't work it could be the drivers you have on your motherboard. If you have nforce chipset check this site for alternate drivers.
