Media compatibility - Gigabyte GO-W0804A DVD burner

I'm only new to using a DVD burner, and have purchased a Gigabyte W0804A. The problems i'm having is finding compatible blank DVD's. I wish to back up movies and use DVD shrink and also DVD X Copy Express. Everything seems to copy ok with Laser and Princo DVD-R but when I play it back on my home DVDplayer, I get frame freeze and jumping, usually around 5 minutes into the movie. I have been told that this is caused by incompatible discs. Anyone had the same problem with this burner? As yet there is no firmware update on the Gigabyte site. AS I live in the country, there is very little different brand discs available. Hope someone can help.

Princo dvdr's suck. thats most likely your problem. try using some good blanks like Ritek. if you insist on using princo's, try burning at 1x or 2x, that might help.

Thanks for the info, have just tried a backup using Princo at 2x, looks like it will be ok. Where I live is a problem, hard to get good media but have ordered 50x Ritek via Ebay so hopefully my problem will be solved. Thank once again.
