dvd shrink, disney atlantis
Yeah, seen seemingly identical titles before, but this time I can find no difference .
No different format, embedded subtitles, in file size, film length, and no, same language in the credits.
What is the reason?
As an aside, with "combined shared titles" ticked I see titles 1-3 in main movie folder. With combined shared titles ticked off I see titles 1 and 2 with title three moving to extras.

i think sometimes they do that on purpose since dl burners aren't out yet they try n make it a pain in the ass. but most of the time i find the difference is the extras play at the end of one and not the other. or some extras scenes are in one and not the other like alternative endings and what not. sometimes one is wide screen and the other is full.

Disney likes to put a lot of crap on their DVD's. They seem to have a lot of previews before you can even get to the movie. I usually gamble that the top listed one is widescreen and the normal version of the movie. I believe you can preview in Shrink the different versions. Sometimes even then it is hard to tell which is which. So far I have been lucky and got the version I wanted.

I am sorry if I wasn't clear, of course I previewed before even making this posting. There is no visable difference between the two titles. both are fixed widescreen at identical ratio, both are identical length (both in duration and size), both have identical number of chapters, both have english credits. I have seen a dozen reasons why two titles might be slightly different and none that I know of apply.
There is also no angle on menus or from remote on the original. -
I backed up Atlantis a while ago with Shrink, I think I used the first available video file. I think you might have to look at the original DVD and see there what the different options from the menu are. Seems like there has to be some difference between the files. I have previewed some DVD's different titles also without finding any difference. I just assumed Shrink changed (standardized?) the preview format and I wasn't seeing the difference.

could also be a glitch in shrink and its just not reading the menu structure correct

glockjs I can assure you that studios never do things like this to frustrate those who want to back DVDs up. Its simply a dummy version of the movie. The movie is only stored on the disk once, its just referenced twice. This is done for all kinds of reasons like to simply to get around navigational limits. Open up the IFO in IFOEdit and ensure that the chapters and cell times are the same between the two titles. If so then just pick one. It doesn't matter because they are identical.

o i c
you gotta remember, im still the person that thinks the pepsi people are out to get me -
it could also be a dual angled movie. I've seen this when backing up castle in the sky. one angle was dubbed and the other was subbed. unfortunately, I picked the wrong angle.
be careful when picking the angles, because they do have slight differences. one thing you can do is back up each into different folders and burn them both to dvd-rw, play them both on your standalone and then pick the one you like better.
I just backed up fruits basket yesterday. it had two angles as well. the only difference was that the titles were displayed in either japanese or english. this is just an example of dual angle dvd's. -
