  1. Hello,

I play a Chinese movie in AVI format with idx/sub subtitle, it shows 2 identical wording phrases of the subtitle on the screen for every frame it plays in the whole movie. Example:

    Here it is
    Here it is

I tired to use SubtoSUP to extract the subtile format into sup format, then use DVDSubEdit to play the subtile and it shows the Chinese correctly on the screen, then I use DVDSubEDIT's OCR button to convert the current sub into srt format, but when play it the subtitle is displayed with nonsense characters. I think the problem is the OCR function does not recognize and scan properly into translation.

Can anyone know how to solve this issue or know other method to convert into srt file.?
    Thanks in advance.

I think you need to convert idx/sub to srt sub.Use notpad or wordpad to delete the language you don't want to display.

Do you only get that on playback? That can happen if you have a software player that does subs and Vobsub running at the same time, if I remember properly.

  4. Yes, you remember correctly. Both DirectVobSub and the subtitle engine of whatever player you're using are displaying the subs. Just turn off the subs of your player.

I want to see the subtitle on playback for the whole movie. If I playback on PC with sub subtitle, it displayed fine. I am aware that sub can not be displayed when play on DVD player. As a result, I was able to connvert the sub to srt, but the srt file is contained all non recognizable characters, which also displays the same result on either PC or DVD player.

To confirm this, I can see the sub correctly with Chinese subtitle on PC, but not on DVD player.

There must be some sort of converter available to do the conversion.
