Adobe Premier 6.0
My default settings are....
a) Pixel Aspect Ratio - D1/DV NTSC (0.9)
b) Maintain Pixel Aspect Ratio is checked
c) Lock Aspect is checked
This is a problem. It results in...
a) Regular pictures end up with an annoying set of black bars on each side of the image, squishing it down a little bit.
b) Images that are shaped vertically and already have some black space introduced by Premier, are also squished by additional black space that should not be there, making them also look abnormal.
With both "Lock Aspect" unchecked globally and "Maintain Aspect Ratio" unchecked on a picture by picture basis, Regular pictures no longer have black bars, are slightly stretched to fit width but look okay. However, vertical pictures also are stretched to fit with and look bad.
With "Lock Aspect" unchecked globally and "Maintain Aspect Ratio" checked on a picture by picture basis, the black bars and abnormal squishing occurrs again.
With "Lock Aspect" checked globally, and "Maintain Aspect Ratio" unchecked only on vertically oriented pictures, those pictures stretch to fit width, abnormally.
Summary? Anytime Lock Aspect or Maintain Aspect Ratio is selected, in any combination, Premier introduces anbormal black sidebars that actually reduce the width of the images to an abnormal shape.
I thought maybe the D1/DV NTSC (9.0) setting is to blame. Should I set it to Square Pixels (1.0) ? Or is something else to blame?
Thanks.
