  1. Hi. I am trying to convert an mjpg captured avi file to divx 5. When I use virtualdub the results are not as good as I would like as it doesn't support 2 passes. When I use the preferred Gordian knot the colours look all "wierd" here is an example

    It should look like this

I haven't changed any settings related to colour, hue or contrast and I have followed the doom 9 guide on divx 5 using gordian knot. What is wrong with it and how do I fix it ?

  2. VirtualDub does support 2 pass.
    Go to Video/Compression
    Select DivX 5.1 codec
    Click configure
Choose under variable bitrate mode: Multipass, 1st pass.
    Click OK, OK.
    Then choose File/Save AVI

After first pass is through, go back to Video/Compression and click configure again.
Change variable bitrate mode to Multipass, nth pass without changing any other settings.
    Click OK, OK again.
    Choose File/Save AVI again.

Now as far as Gordian Knot is concerned, I can't answer you there. Possibly a setting has been changed from its default?
