  1. This is my first post to this board but i have been reading from it and taking advice from the posts ive read. I have been successfully converting divx to vcd, xvcd and svcd.
I have hit a real problem when trying to convert a dvd rip of the mummy 2. It has been ripped into two divx files approx 700 Mb each.
I am converting it to svcd. I decided to split it over three 80 min cds to ensure quality. Using Virtual dub I managed to cut the first 40 mins or so from the first divx. I seperated the audio into a wav and converted it. That worked fine. I did the same with the last 40 mins or so off the second divx file. That also worked fine.
The problem is that if i try to cut the last 20 mins or so from the first divx file, using virtual dub, I loose about half the audio. The same happens when cutting the first 20 mins from the second divx.
I have tried cutting with audio and picture, cutting audio as a wav file. I tried to cut the whole audio off the original divx files. The same happens.
I know the audio is there in the divx files as i watched em.

    Can any one help me???

I gave up on VirtualDub a while back due to the audio loss problem. This happened with almost every file I edited with VirtualDub. It might be good for capturing, but you cannot edit with it.

I don't edit DivX. I replied to let "meee" know that he was not alone in having audio loss problems with VirtualDub.
I tried it to edit my MPEG captures. Even though it would only save them back as AVI, I was willing to deal with this since it made editing so easy. But, since I lost my audio, I had to give it up.
