  1. Hi, I thought I'd sorted everything out - I got a plus 5GB movie down to 4.2GB using Shrink, but I keep getting the error message "cannot perform disc at once" and my machine ejects the DVD disc. Is there any reason it will not burn the movie?
I have 2 folders: the audio and video folders which I used Shrink to get it to a manageable size, but it lost the 2 folders and I am left with VTS and BUP files - collectively of the right size - which when dragged into Nero still won't be burnt. Is there a step I've missed after Shrink has reduced the file size and before I try burning it? I have used TMPGEncDVDAuthor to create my original movie file which comes in at the +5GB size - hence my use of shrink. Anyone solved this problem befor, please?

  2. Just adding to the above e-mail - if I can get Shrink to make an Audio and a Video file will Nero burn it for me, please? If the answer is "Yes" how can I get Shrink to keep the 2 original files (Aud and Vid) so Ner can handle them? Any advice welcome, guys.

I don't use Nero to burn DVD's, so I'm not sure if this will help you or not.
I use Sonic MyDVD. With that software, you copy both the AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS folders as data files. If there is something similar in Nero, you may want to try that. As for your problem of losing the two folders...recreate the folders (keep the name in all caps) as above and place the files you have left in the VIDEO_TS folder. The AUDIO_TS folder will remain empty, but burn it as well for compatibility with older DVD players.

Why use TMPGEnc DVD AUTHOR to create your original movie file. Just use DVD SHRINK from the beginning then burn with NERO burn. Read this guide: http://www.dvdshrink.info/nero-video.php

  5. I don't use nero for dvd so i can't help much with that, however i think you are missing the make image step. i use TMPGEncDVDAuthor also, after you have authored you movie TMPGEncDVDAuthor creates the AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS folders and then creates the *.vob & *.ifo files and opens the dvd/image writer and askes you for a name for the volume label, and also has choices for write image & burn dvd erase disk and so on. you could try starting a new project in TMPGEncDVDAuthor and choose add dvd video instead of add file. then choose the folder that dvdshrink made and tell TMPGEncDVDAuthor to get chapters from shrink dvd files, and make dvd and burn directly from TMPGEncDVDAuthor. or you make an image with IFOEdit there plenty of guides on how to do that, and then burn the image with DVD Decrypter if you wanted to. i don't know if that helped, but it should point you in the right direction.

The easiest way is to switch to Nero Express and use my guide here.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  7. I tried the Nero express route and got an "Invalid Command Field" message, it said it "could not perform disc at once" function and ejected the DVD. The total file was 4.46GB in size - too big??
I'll try re-authoring it first in Shrink. Any more ideas very welcome, please.

Yes. Must be 4.377GB or less.
    If in doubt, Google it.

If you have the latest version of Shrink (3.17, I think), it will allow you to burn automatically after you shrink.

  10. SORTED!! I have been trying to write to a DVD-RW disc (too many errors and costly beer mats made in the past) and my writer did not like it at all. I finally decided to risk it and write to a blank disc and it worked!! Cheers, guys and thanks for all the help. Keep up the good work.
