dvd shrink 3.1.7

i to get the pixels and occasional freeze so i have been reading(some) and wonder if going back to an 3.0.5 will give better results like i have been reading... so if anyone can give me some input i would much appreciate it. i run an amd 2600xp with 1 gig or ddr 2100 and serial ata drives in a raid 0 config. please send and thoughts or suggestions, i really like my shrink copies.

I've had no issues with 3.1.7 that would make me return to 3.0.5

But then I don't try and do the impossible with Shrink. The impossible is shrinking 9 GB's of DVD9 down to a DVDR. You can do it, but the results speak of themselves.

I get perfect results. I have been getting perfect results since the conception of dvdshrink. So,,, it is almost impossible to give you an answer. Did you ever get good results with any previous version of shrink? If so, I would suggest reverting to that particualr version. You have a very good system according to your specs so I can't say that's the culprit. Some people seem to have all sorts of problems with certain versions of shrink. It's just like the negative problems with Nero. I never have had any p[roblems with that as well. Knock on wood!

I went back to v3 beta 5 as have a lot of folks.

I've seen the pixelation problem myself. Its especially bad with Anime. 3.1.6 doesn't have as bad a problem with it, but 3beta5 has no problems at all with it. It does take a fair bit longer to do the transcode in 3beta5 though.

I keep hearing similiar issues. I'm wondering if he tuned the transcoding engine for speed, at the cost of pixelization? I don't get any pixelization on 3.1.7, but I usually always do deep ananlysis, and never go past 80%.

I always do deep analysis...never had a pixelation issue with 3.1.7....when dvdshrink asked for users for specifics when pressed they never came to the plate so there wasn't anything he could do. I'll go try and search for that thread now.

My sentiments exactly. I'll use IC or re-encode or split past about 85%, main movie only. No pixelization seen by me at 85% or above. (When the price is right I'm gunna get one big ass TV. Don't want to think all my backups will have to be done over. So I guess I'm rather conservative.)

However, when a number of knowledgeable folks say they have had problems, I won't reject that out of hand. Maybe so. But I haven't seen it.
