  1. I am using nero 6 ultra (nero vision express 2) to turn several avi files into dvd. I am using some ogm files that I took apart and made them have an mp2 audio and a avi file, i synced them perfectly. Now i am using nero to make them into a dvd movie. I am trying to put as many as i can on with the best possble quality. I am thinking of trying 4 anime eps, in 352x480 with 4735 kbit/s. Any suggestions would be great. If there are any programs that can do a better job let me know. Thanks

There are many better apps than Nero!
Encode your AVI to m2v with TMPGEnc or MainConcept or other mp2 encoder. Bit rate depends on what's in the movies, but I think 4635 kbps at 352*480 is overkill. I'd suggest you try 3000 kbps and compare it to your 4635 encode and see if you can spot any difference. So, after this, you have a mp2 audio and m2v video - all that's left is to author to DVD and burn.
The free way to author this to DVD is DVDAuthor GUI or GUI for DVDAutor. Commercial apps: TMPGEnc DVD Author, DVD Lab...
Some of these include burning too, but if not, make DVD image with imgtools classic (free) and burn with DVDDecrypter (also free).

  3. Does 352x480 give out a good quality picture? i have yet to try one at those measurements. I would like to know the recommended measurments for an anime ep, that is about 23 minutes long, and is a dvd rip. Thanks for your help

Dest resolution depends on source resolution. There's nothing gained in enlarging...

  5. For 352x576 use a variable bitrate of between 2Mbps and 4Mbps. As this is half D1 resolution, you should use half the D1 bitrate (but remember that MPEG2 looks bad below 2Mbps).

In my opinion Half D1 doesn't MAX out the bitrate until about 5000kbps but 4735kbps is really close to that so I would just do a CBR with that particular value.

    Should turn out most excellent.
