  1. Hey everyone, I have been learning more and more about Premiere Pro and am going to be starting a new movie soon with some friends of mine called Max Payne 3. I have never had a lengthy movie so I have kept all my movies in one sequence, but I was wondering if you have multiple sequences you can combine them at the end or have them arranged like in chapters on the DVD. Also, if they are arranged in chapters on the DVD, I want to know how to have the movie play right through the chapters if someone just hits play, but I want people to be able to choose a chapter if they want. How do I do this stuff in Adobe Premiere Pro? Why should I use multiple sequences? Sorry if these are newbie questions, but I am just learning. Thansk for the help!

    Go to the forums at Adobe.com and read, read, read!

    But for a quick answer or two:

    Sequences have several uses, but you can create your movie in seperate sequences and then create a new sequence and import all the others into it. Then export that sequence to a DVD.

    You can insert markers wherever you like and they will end up as chapters.

    You really need to read as all of this is already written at Adobe.com

  3. So if I put an unnumbered marker on the sequence it will end up being a chapter when I export the movie? And then when I use TMPGenc DVD Author will it automatically detect those markers as chapters and separate them out?

    To my knowledge it only works when you import into Adobe Encore, but I could be wrong.

    You need to do some real and serious reading. If you are brand new at this, do not take on a big project. Capture and edit some vhs tapes from tv. Edit out commercials, do soft fades at beg. and end. export to avi. Do not even think about cahpters while editing. chapters are set up in the authoring. After you do several tapes from TV, try to assemble some scenes from various programs of tv shows. Try and do a string of vh1 videos with cross fades into each other. After you master transitions, and are able to save (export) to avi. Then read up on encoding, and then finally authoring to DVD.

    Make lots of mistakes, do it all wrong, and then learn the right way. Make DVD-RW discs so you can redo all the fuk ups, and not blow good discs.

    If you have lots of time to learn, you could be ready to use PP in 4 to 6 weeks on a movie. But I spent 6 months learning encoding and authoring, that was before I spent another 3 to 4 months learning to do good editing.

    I think VHS and Laser Discs are good sources to learn with. Then you have somehting that can be watched later if it works out ok.

    So go now and read up, you have weeks of reading to do.

    NO !!

    It would only worn in Encore and you have to set them as chapter points;

    Really, it'd be impossible to learn how to use it asking around.....you have to READ !! READ ! READ !

    The help file is available together withthe software, do like I did :

    1) Print it all
    2) Get a cold can of beer and read it once entirely, away from the computer,
    3) Capture some small AVI's and make exercises with the printed book in front of you;

    It'd be even better just to buy the Bible and....read it
