I'm using tmpgenc to conver AVI to SVCD, but when I put in a blank CD-R into the drive it will not recognize it. I hit browse in output file and select D: which is my cd-rw and it reacts like there's no disk. I tried several other blank(Verbatim) but same results. I put in a CD-RW disk with stuff in it and it says you don't have the authorization to open or something and says to see administrator???
Anyone had this kind of problem?
Am I suppose to save to my hard disk first?

TMPGenc is not a burner, it will not write to your cd drive, you need to encode the file to hard disk first and then burn it with your CD writer software, ie Nero or EZ CD Creator, also before you waste any disks and time, ensure that your DVD hardware will read SVCD and CD-R disks, not all do.
Hope this helps

could be that this person (the poster) was attempting to encode directly to a blank CD? (no can do without packet writing software (ie. Roxio/Adaptec DirectCD) but even with packet writing software you would have to format the disk first (so that it can be packet writable) but i wouldn't suggest it.

btw...
and even if anyone is inclined to try encoding directly to CD (using packet writing software and a correctly formatted disk), be prepared to make a few coasters....as...
1) the writer most likely won't keep up
(maybe with a 16 or 24x??? doubt it but if anyone has let us know eh and how many months did that take?)
2) i am not aware of any encoding software that will automatically span/split the video across disks so...
3) you better know what your doin before you try

-if you are running windows 2000 (or NT for that matter)
and log into windows under a different user name and that burner/writer/drive happens to have shared access....you might want to see your administrator

Well generally that is the idea...encoding to your hard drive first...and THEN burning it
Haven't you been reading the helppages?

Thanks folks. I guess it was pretty stupid question. I guess I'll need more disk space to do this.
One more thing, how do you do batch? I kept getting this error saying row is too long or something. Any idea?
Thanks for quick help.
