I know this may seem a basic question and I have trawled the "How to" Sections of this forum but I have not been able to find a solution to my problem. Most tutorials cover coveting MPEG1/2 to DVD etc

So I'll explain what it is I want to do and want I have done so far and hopefully someone can guide me on my next step.

I have a Standalone DVD recorder on which I have copied episodes of a TV programme I have now ripped theses DVD's to my hard drive using smart ripper what I’d now like to do is put theses VTS/Vob files through TMPGE Author so that I can use the editing frames to delete the adverts

To do this do I need to first to convert to MPEG1? This being the case what software can I use

I now two folders with VTS files what is my next move

    Many Thanks in advance Towbar

  2. I'm sure one of the versions of TMPGenc opens up VOBs directly.

After "Create New Project " click on Add DVD video, locate where the VIDEO_TS folder for that particular dvd you ripped is and click on it. TDA will then displayl the clips ( Movies ) that live in that folder. Select what you want and continue. TDA will recreate MPG2 files which you them re author. Do that with every Clip that was displayed one at a time. By the way most DVDs recorded on standalone recorders can just be copied to the HD without any ripping software. No protection you know! Just drag the floders to the desktop or wherever yoou want them to go.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

I use VobEdit to DEMUX the VOB files and Cuttermaran to edit the simple streams and then I use TMPGEnc DVD Author to re-author.

Use Windows Update, you'll find the right .Net file in the Windows folder after running the scan.
