  1. New to this. Have a VCD film. Plays in Media Player on PC when go into Mpegav folder and execute dat file. Same film won't play on stand alone DVD (Thomson dth4000)always displays no disk on dvd. Think may be the media. If burning film onto new media do I just do a disk copy or burn the dat file within the mpagev folder only in order to play on stand alone dvd??? Or does the dat file have to be converted in order to play on stand alone dvd......(

It is the media problem. Try to use CD-RW. I found that Mr. Write CD-RW plays on most picky DVD players.

  3. Where as mrcdr's answer is useful (the same one I've seen about 20 times) you might want to check to see if your DVD player is compatible with CD-R/RW media. I spent $500 on a 3-disc player only to find it was not CD-R/RW compatible. I returned it for a Pioneer which advertised burnable media compatability and the SAME cd had no problems. Hope this helps.
    :-p
