I just noticed that the ADS Tech web site no longer lists the ADS USB Instant DVD for Mac as one of their products. I presume this means it is discontinued.

I hope this means they're either going to add Mac support for their DVD+DV box. What would be lovely is if an Apple TiVo-like box had ADS innards, and could sync with a new iPodAV.

The capture software has worked to my expectations so for me this is a case of if it ain't broke don't fix it. I dont want the box to die, of course, these things dont last forever.

That's a shame, because the ADS unit does work very well - better than it's PC equivalents, if you read the ratings on this site. Presumably they weren't making enough money on them.

At least this year there have been some alternatives released, like the Elgato devices.

My guess is ADS pulled out because of a licensing issue with Pixela. It may be just a coincidence that Pixela's FastCoder and CaptyDVD 2 is about to be sold by LaCie; but maybe not such a coincidence.

No, indeed. That would be the reason for sure.
