I've tried to convert a VHS tape to DVD by first copying the tape to my Sony TRV900 DVD camera, loading the DV video to my PC capturing in Vegas 3, then using the standard Vegas mpeg2 NTSC DVD to convert the captured avi file. The initial test conversion looked a bit blurry so I engaged the sharpen (mild) filter. After converting I wrote the DVD using TMPGEnc DVD Author.
The resulting DVD seems to play smoothly, still a bit blurry, but has a very annoying fast flicker effect. The video appears to look OK when there is little motion and the background is dark...but if the background to the motion is white the effect is very noticable and quite unacceptable. The catpured DV video plays smoothly on the computer. The converted mpeg2 files stutter on the computer (and the TV when played back from the DVD disk). I'd estimate the flicker effect to be about 5-6/sec.
I'm not very adept at adjusting the Main Concept settings for the mpeg conversion. Would there be somrthing there to adjust?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
