  1. Hi, just joined the site and know next to nothing about coverting from format to format.Had a browse through some of the guides and have half an idea of what to do, but still fairly confused. So here's what's baffling me:

Recieved a cd containing some avi files and some rm files. What i want to do is convert it all to dvd so i can watch it with ease on my player.i have downloaded various bits of freeware, but cannot get it do convert the avi files and rm files.

I know this is probably a very easy procedure but it is baffling me, as i am a novice at converting stuff. I have a version of nero and have a copy of :avi/mpeg/rm/wmv joiner. It looks like i need to get a copy of TMPGenc from what i have been reading or gspot.

Would appreciate any advice on conversions or software i need to get hold of.
    Thanks.

  2. You need:
Convert RM to avi application of some sort.
Encoder of some sort (tmpgenc, Mainconcept, Canopus, or CCE)
Authroing software of some sort (DVDLab, TMPGEnc DVD Author, Sonic MyDVD, Ulead Video 2 or 3, etc.)
    DVD burning software (Nero, etc.)

    Get your avi's all sorted.
Encode them to dvd compliant mpegs.
    Author (add menus, chapters etc.)
    Burn.
