Converting WMV to VCD (new to this)

I am fairly new to all this and have read as much as I can to educate myself. I am trying to convert WMV to VCD. I have used Nero with some success, but I have to tweak my DVD player to get them to play (under the specs on this site it should play without tweaking) and when they play it's like watching a bad kung-fu movie the picture quality is good but the sound doesn't match. Any ideas or possibly easier to use burning software. I downloaded VCD easy but don't see that option.

Try using TMPGEnc to convert the wmv to VCD mpeg, then drop that into a Nero VCD compilation.
