  1. I am extracting audio using DVD2AVI tmpgenc and all other programs (except say media player) will not TOUCH this file. audio decode error (winamp plays it fine)

I suspect it is because it is over 2gb in size at 2.37gig. is there anything I can do to work with this file. converting to a slightly more compressed format to get under what appears to be a 2gb issue would be idea ? suggestions ?

I found programs that will convert from dvd to mp3 but they extract buy chapter etc.. instead of simply the entire disc which is what I need to properly work with the video.

    suggestions ?

  2. When extracting the audio with dvd2avi, set it to demux instead of decode (Audio -> DolbyDigital menu) and it will output a "small" AC3 file instead of Wav.

  3. Ahhh nice and tmpgenc will be able to see this file as a sound file ?

I can not try it right now (computer is quite occupied at the moment.)

just out of curiosity is there a way to increase the volume from within dvd2avi ? I am encoding divx files for viewing on my zodiac and they are not loud enough on its speakers (fine on headphones but I hate using headphones if I can help it)

I usually drop the wave in goldwave and crank the volume but that takes a small eternity to do and it will not touch these 2.37gig audio files :-)

I did find a solution in the mean time (will have to try the demux !! might speed things up too) Easy CDDA Extractor was able to convert to MP3 and tmpgenc was able to see this file although sync might be an issue (I can fix that no problem its just a pain to do :-)

I just bought 4 of the Stargate Seasons (boy did that cost a pretty penny) and I want to make them watchable on my Zodiac :-)

  4. Stargate, cool, that will be my next series to buy i think, as soon as i got all EFC i try to afford a season or 2. I dont think TMPGEnc can read from ac3 file but i guess its possible to get a plugin that will enable it. Im not sure about this, stopped using tmpgenc long ago, probably many new versions since then.

  6. Personally i use Besweet (free) for audio conversions, or you can use goldwave directly to mp2. Am not familiar with goldwave, but you should be able to convert the ac3 to mp2, at least besweet does it well. Besweet isnt so good at dealing with 5.1 AC3 files sometimes, but in your case it should be just fine. Then you use tmpgenc or something to encode the video and then multiplex the files with tmpgenc (File -> Mpeg tools)
Edit: OR you can look for a plugin so tmpgenc can read the ac3 file.
