  1. I have used a number of programs to try and convert a few .sub files to .srt for my Liteon LVD-2001. I am wondering if anyone can advise me how I can convert these. I hope I am not breaking any rules by posting links but here are the files:

    http://www.xtropyonline.com/hosting/incite-kill.bill.xvid.cd1.idx
    http://www.xtropyonline.com/hosting/incite-kill.bill.xvid.cd1.sub

    http://www.xtropyonline.com/hosting/incite-kill.bill.xvid.cd2.idx
    http://www.xtropyonline.com/hosting/incite-kill.bill.xvid.cd2.sub

Can anyone try and convert these to .srt files and if you are successful, please tell me the program you used. I tried the following but I get errors that the format is invalid. Vobsub and Virtualdub read the files perfect though so I know they are not corrupt:

    Subtool
    Subadjust
    Subtitleworkshop

I know I can encode them using VirtualDub but I would prefer to have these as .srt files.

    Thanks,
    Xtropy

Had the same sort of issues trying to convert sub file extension....just happen to slip on the answer by mistake.
If you have vobsub2.23 installed make sure you install the utilities that includes submux.exe and subresync.exe located in your c:\program files\gabest\vobsub directory.
You didn't specify what your frame rate of the video recommend finding out then selecting proper fps.
1.I dwl your files....right clicked on incite-kill.xvid.cd1.sub then left clicked on edit with subresync which display an open window then clicked open for the selected file.
    2. be default its 25 frames per second.
3.The subresync dialog box appeared...also by default I left render checked and unlink not checked. From the drop down it detected 3 languages(00-Japanese, 01-English, & 02-Japanese)
I only speak english so 01 was selected.
4.Then clicked Save As, from the save as type drop down, i choose subripper with *.srt extension... leaving the section of ocr setting "clear image->letter(s) database" unchecked - no clue on that either.
    then selected save.
5.Now I hope you can follow the moving box and type the letter/word/(s) that matches next dialog box that appears this in turn builds a database of the letter/words/(s) you typed.
You may have to use extend if you don't see the words or symbols correctly.

6.Final test with your avi movie if new srt matches with your flix.

    I hope this Helps.
