  1. There are several places on the forum talking about Dual layer supported drives. But there isn't a topic giving a summary.

Please post the drives that are firmware upgradable or that are supporting dual layer by default.

So I and other visitors know what drive to buy

The big problem is that the drive manufacturers have not commited to which drives will work and which drives will not work with a simple firmware upgrade. Still too soon to make a list.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  3. No this is one drive out that is dual layer upgradeable stated by the manufacter and that's the BenQ DW822A. The firmeware for it won't be out till 9/30, so it only does single layer as of right now. It's the only DL capable drive out right now. BenQ will have a DL out of the box in about 3 weeks the DW830A. There will probably be some other drives in mid to end of May like the Lite-on (832?) and NEC ND-2510A.

Dw822A $99 in stock at Newegg
