  1. Hi
i am trying to take camcorder footage that has been recorded to dvd from my standalone dvd recorder to the pc to add transitions, music ,text ect ect but when i export my finished work(with lots of hours and hard work) the encoding/export takes very little time and the finished article is like watching a corner shops cctv camera footage ie one frame every second
i am using a liteon 5005 dvd recorder , ripping the vobs to mpeg using tmpeg dvd author (even though mwv can import vobs i get the same problem) and exporting using default settings to pal dvd mpeg

any suggestions or answers greatly appriciated
and if anymore info is needed to help me with my quest i would gladly answer

    thanx in advance

  2. I've found the same problem with MPEG Video Wizard. It is an excellent (probably the best and easiest to use) frame-accurate MPEG2 editor, only re-encoding at the edit points. However, if you use the transitions, text and titling, adjust the image, etc. you wind up re-encoding the whole thing and the quality degrades significantly.

MPEG2 is a final format not really intended for the purpose you are describing. You would be better off capturing to AVI on your computer and editing with something like Pinnacle or Ulead if you want to use transitions and all the other stuff. Then encode your finished project with TMPGEnc or some other high-quality MPEG encoder. Author your DVD with TMPGEnc DVD Author.

Another option would be to record your edited AVI project right off your computer to your DVD recorder, if your editor has that capability (either analog to tape or DV output).
