Hi
I have the pioneer 105 DVD writer everything was working fine until I had to format my pc. When I try to make copies of a DVD I get the error message saying bad media
I have tried various different types of disc and keep getting the same error message.
I have no issues at the decryption (DVD Decryptor) or compression stages (DVD2one) but as soon as I try to burn the folder video_ts using clone DVD to a disc the error message appears( also tried Nero and other software to try to copy discs)
Writing to DVD was not successful
DVD write error (write DVD 9)
A DVD write error has occurred, probably caused by bad medium
Please replace the medium and try again
I was told it may be a problem with aspi drivers, so I downloaded the aspi checker and ran the test, all files are in place an working correctly
My DVD still plays DVD’s, copies SVCD file and data files just wont write to a DVD disc….help
Not much hair left guys as I have pulled most of it out, any help would be appreciated
Operating system XP pro
512mb ram
1.4 Athlon
Think i may have posted in the wrong area sorry![]()

I woud make sure DMA is enabled...that's not your problem but still...
After the ASPI layer, I would think you would be dealing with firmware. Although I have never upgraded my firmware.
Before going the firmware route, I would unhook the drive, uninstall the drive, reboot without the drive. Clean out the registry with a program like ACE utilities (in novice mode). Shut the PC down, reattach the drive and reinstall it.
Can explorer see the disc in the DVD drive?

I have the same drive, however, I have updated my firmware to the hacked version, allowing 16x ripping speeds. Now, I also just started having this fluke happen to me tonight, while using CloneDVD. The weird thing is, is that I just recieved another 50x spindle of Ritek G04's. Now, these new ones aren't my usuals, the tops are shiny, whereas my usuals are matte finished. I never had any problems burning with CloneDVD until these shiny suckers. At first, I had the "UDF 5 65536" error when trying to burn, but I was using an older version of CloneDVD. Then I DL CloneDVD2, then I got the same error your describing. And then I tried something a little obvious, but probably overlooked. I corrected the error problem by simply changing the burn speed from "Maximum" to "4x", and this solved the error problem, although now doubling the burn time. But who cares? As long as the burns complete!
