Atkinson has won awards for his work as a pundit
Football pundit Ron Atkinson has left his job at ITV over a racist comment about Chelsea's Marcel Desailly.
ITV said Atkinson was "devastated and very sorry" after a comment made in the wake of Chelsea's Champions League game against Monaco on Tuesday.

The comment was heard on some Middle East channels which broadcasted a live feed after ITV went off-air.

What the hell is he doing ? This not the kind of stuff I'd expect from him.

They've lost their jobs over a hell of a lot less, here.

Even the Great Rush Limbaugh lost his job as a commentator, for just saying that they had to recruit more blacks, or somesuch, for US football.

Not that I give much of a shit what he says.

We really are getting to be quite PC, are we not? You dare not use any not expressly permitted term for anyone, or you will wind up in court, or you will lose your job.

I believe it was NAZI Germany that had the rule, though it may have been all of Europe, where, if it is not expressly permitted it is forbidden, whereas in the USA, it USED to be, if it is not expressly forbidden, it is legal. Seems no longer to be so. If you hurt someone's tender feelongs, off to jail you go, or to court, or to the Unemploymenr line.

Ah, well, what you gonna do, rebel? Hah!!! Not in a million years 6 billion sheep on the planet, today.

Rush said: "I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL,'' Limbaugh said. "The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They're interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well ... McNabb got a lot of the credit for the performance of the team that he really didn't deserve.''

But you were close enough....however, I do not condone when people talk about a certain race, I do somewhat agree with Rush on this statement.

Isn't it true when a US football team wins....they give most of the credit to the QB? They do, even if they did shitty, they still give them a lot of credit. Never do you hear about the linemen and how they protected that QB the whole game or made holes for the running backs. And the truth is.....America does want to see black QBs succeed. In the past, the QB position has been dominated by white athletes. Alot of people want to see black athletes do well.....which is reasonable but we shouldn't overplay the situation and give him a break just because he is black.


It was poor wording on Rush's part. I feel bad for the media every now and then.....they are always walking that fine line of being racist or not. They have to choose their comments very wisely.

And don't even get me started on pulling the race card. I go to a school where there is a diverse culture.....lots of black americans as well. I have seen on more than one occasion them pull the race card because they didn't get what they wanted. They make it sound like they are being discriminated against just because their skin color. I mean come on.....sure it happens but not as much as they think.....we aren't in the 1800s anymore.

Then they have their Black Alliance meetings. Only black people are allowed to join.....hmmmmm, it would be racist if we started a whites only group. They would say we are the KKK or something.

What happened to African Americans and Native Americans was tradgic, but we can't keep dwelling in the past......don't pull that race shit. Instead become stronger, be more active, and fight for what you want. It can happen and many minorities have proved it can be done. To them I say great job and give them much credit.
