  1. I dowloaded a set of files to create a dvd. On dvd2avi the vob files show up in color but when i burn the files to dvd with nero it plays fine but the video is black and white. Only thing I think to do is reencode but I'd rather not do that.

    I've burned a ton of VCD's but I'm new to DVD's

Anyone know what's going on here?

I had this happen when playing a dvd on my standalone. Turned out I had it (the player) set to NTSC instead of PAL. Are you trying this out on a computer or standalone?

  3. my mintek 1600 plays it in color and my pioneer plays it black and white.
I guess it is a pal issue

Check the settings on your pioneer. You should be able to tell it to convert all signals to ntsc on the way out. Should fix your problem.
