  1. i'm recording from vhs to my cyberhome recorder, ripping to pc with dvd decrypter, and authoring with tmpgenc dvd author. i've also taken discs that were made on other standalones and used the same method. here's the problem. the recording, encoding, and burning process all go fine with no errors at all. when i play the finished discs on any pc they play fine, but almost all the discs i've made will not play on just about every standalone they've been tried on. i do know that my authoring is good because i recently shared a concert dvd online and i had at least a couple people say they burned it and it played fine.

so my question is this: can the program i use to burn to disc or the brand of disc affect playback this severely? i'm using nero to and burning onto maxell dvd+r and dvd-r.

PLEASE someone help if you can. this whole situation is really bothering me.

  2. thatll be a compatibility problem with the standalone.
if you take the dvd you authored with tmpgenc dvd author, and rip it with say,dvd decrypter, then pass it through,"dvd2one".
then copy it,i guarantee itll work.
i get the same problem with ifoedit, but after making my ifo/vob files with it,i gotta pass it through dvd2one,even tho im not shrinking or changing anything, then after copying itll play on my sony standalone.
seems the files arent as compliant as we would think,or the dvd players are just shite..you choose heh

  3. actually, for some strange reason the problem seems to be that i've been burning with nero. every disc i've recorded with nero has this same problem. i took some discs that i had recorded with nero, ripped them again with dvd decrypter and made new copies with sonic recordnow and they play fine. i sent several discs to a friend of mine and none would play. he did the same thing and now they all play perfectly. i even got my apex to play a dvd-r last night. that was the first time it's ever read that type of disc.

From the info you give its got to be the way your burning them
What settings are you using in nero?
These setting always work for me

If I burn with TDA to -R the disc will only play one 1 of my 3 players
Its just a matter of finding out what works
