  1. ok i'm looking for a new burner. i think these 2 are the ones i've narrowed my choice down to. now which to chose. i know the nec 2500a has been time tested and it's a great drive. also there may be a future f/w upgrade to make it DL. now for the benq i've seen that it to is a great burner from the comments of others. benq list this drive as f/w upgradeable to DL. so which to chose.

  3. 2500 is better than a 812. The 812 will do kprobes though. If you wait 4 weeks DL burners may be out.

  4. yea i'm kinda leaning toward the 2500a. i would wait for the dl burners but i would imagine that they would be kinda pricy as well as the media also

I think he was talking about the Nec 2500a or Benq DW822a

  6. Maybe, if so I apologize, but I'm hardly one to overlook recommending a BenQ , he also did an edit on the 12th.

I would go with the Benq. They both write great but Benq seems more willing to go the extra mile after the sale. I seriously doubt NEC with offer any kind of fw upgrade to DL which leaves you to hacked firmwares like the most recent one being an HP 420 fw (I think) with the id string changed. I don't have a problem with using those fw's, but I think all the recommendations should be based on features provided by the manufacturers and not the awesome coders in the hobbie.

  10. What are your computer specs?
Why don't you get both? Most computers take two.

  12. NewEgg had the Dw822A in stock and now they're out, so they must be selling well.
