  1. I recently received my wedding video on DVD. It is an exact copy of my VHS version. There is no menu, it just plays from the start. I would like to reauthor the dvd with menus and chapters. The DVD has .VOB files on it, what are the steps i need to take to do this? The DVD is broken up into 10 min segments, is there a way to make one file and break it up into chapters myself?

    thanks

  2. DVD lab will do what you require. Import the Vobs as a whole file if you so wish. Add chapters and create your menus. Even motion menus if you will. There is a 30 days trial available for you to try it out.

TMPGEnc DVD Author can also do it and is a bit easier to use than DVD-Lab although the menu creation process is somewhat limited in TMPGEnc DVD Author whereas DVD-Lab is more robust in that area.

But I find TMPGEnc DVD Author to be a breeze to use and setting chapters up in it is easier than any other program I've used.

You can import the VOB files directly into it and there is a free trail period when you first install it (I think it is either 2 or 4 weeks).

TMPGenc DVD Author and probably DVD-Lab will do exactly what you are looking for

Depending how far you want to get into DVD authoring, TMPGenc is a good start, DVD-Lab is much better but needs more effort to get good results

Try looking at TMPGenc DVDAuthor first though, I know it can easily set specific chapter points

  5. Thanks for the tip,

Will I lose any quality doing this from the original?

Not if you import the DVD files info either TMPGEnc DVD Author or DVD-Lab but beware other programs that might attempt to re-encode the video and/or audio.

  7. ok i got the dvdlab open and i am trying to figure it out. Do i need to join the .VOB file into one .VOB file if i want the disc to have a menu and chapters? or can i just import them as separate .VOB files and just add chapters?

    thanks
