    hi, i have a vcd on 2 cds, and i would like to take the Avseqblahblah.DAT and convert it to .avi...ive already taken the .dat files and renamed to .mpg so that they open in quicktime pro, but QT pro wont allow me to add one file to the other and export. how can i combine these 2 files into 1 .avi file that will fit on a 700 MB cd?

    I just used mpeg2works to join 2 mpeg files so you could do that and then export as an avi file I guess...

    i tried with mpeg 2 works and it said the file is not a valid .mpg file. grr!!

    your re-named .dat files are not valid mpegs.
    If you have toast 6, you can rip mpegs off the vcd using the "Disc Info" command.
    you can then join the mpegs uing mpgtx or mpeg2works
    then export to avi.
