  1. Is it just me, or is MacTheRipper ALOT slower than DVDbackup?

It depends on the DVDs. It seems to be significantly slower on episodic DVDs (ones with episodes of TV shows), but as quick or faster on regular movies. YMMV.

  7. MTR seems faster to me. I haven't ripped an episodic disc yet, but I would swear it was faster on the 20 or so I've ripped lately.

Not to mention the best feature of all; I can rip multiple discs at once from two different drives.

Don't know, don't care, can't be bothered to deal with Apples DVD Player just to rip a disc. MtR for me. Seems faster too, I can rip stuff on my Powerbook without getting bored and canceling it, and these are episode discs.
If it isn't broken, take it apart and find out why.

  9. MtR runs just fine for me, and on a pretty slow machine to boot! (not for long, mind you, but hey) U sure you have the latest version?

MTR 2.0 has been completely rewritten in native Obj-C Cocoa, and might be a significantly faster.

We'll probably start beta testing 2.0 within the next couple weeks.
