Looks great for a prebuilt system. Man those things cost a lot, but if you don't know much about computer repair that tech support will be worth the money.

The only thing I would add is a second hard drive. That's pretty expensive.

  7. 'Bout a grand dearer than a clone with the same parts, but still a very good system.

I could built the same thing plus add a new 74 GB Rapter 10K RPM for less.

Not to mention you'll get a shitty motherboard with it that you can't overclock... waste of money in my opinion. But if you have money to waste go ahead.

that was not his question -- also this system uses asus motherboards , didn't realize they were crap.. some people care more about stability and support than overclocking ...

I'm just saying he spent more money than what's it worth. Asus are not shitty MB (didnt know which ones the put in) but still they are locked which prevents any overclocking. When I bought my first computer I bought 3 years support (not very experienced at the time) and whenever I had a problem they told me to reformat. I never used support anyway (waste of money on my part). Know I learned from that and thats why I built my own and whenver I have a problem there are a billion forums where there are people to help just like this one. But I'm just saying you could built the same system with better/more stuff for half that what he paid.

  12. Performance rating: 9.5
Obviously is up near the top. Few systems can beat it.

    Value rating: 5
Lotta money for a PC. It isn't a Dual CPU setup either. Not to mention it's a top end prebuilt so it is gonna cost more than a top end DIY PC.

    Parts rating: 7.5
Dell,HP and gateway etc all use parts that the end user would probably not pick, even on highend systems. Possibly memory with average timings. Underclocked gfx card (i've seen it happen). Their priority is pick parts with the highest compatibility with other parts they use rather than looking to performance or upgradability etc.

    Overall: 8

    Opinion:
Awesome setup and very speedy. Performance weighs heavy btw. If it's Dell, you gotta let them to all the repair/warranty stuff. Otherwise it's void as you probably know.

As a DIY PC builder, I would have built a Dual Opteron/Xeon workstation with that cash. SCSI harddrives and all.

Obviously a lot of us would build our own PC (less money, more performance, the parts I want). But sometimes it is easier for some to just order a PC.

  14. Good Pc, seems a bit pricey though, can't you make one yourself or get a friend to help you ?, you will save a truckload.

  16. Ah, the Dell bashers have arrived...

Nothing wrong with the machine that I can see. More than enough horsepower to do just about anything you'd like it to do.
