  3. My JVC can also play Pal. It converts on the fly. If its region locked youll need to make a full disk copy and remove region code first.

Dude, I think that DVDShrink or Derrow (IFOEdit author) are about the only two people in the world that could possibly do what you want to do without losing their sanity. That is why the above posters have recommended a different player, because it is too hard for the majority of people here, let alone a NOOB. period. The other option is to buy the DVD title in NTSC format.

The process of converting between PAL and NTSC would require you to demux each titleset into elementary streams. Then you would have to re-encode the video. Then you would have to shrink/warp the audio. Then you would have to modify the timing of the subtitles. Then you would have to author these files, and transpose them over the original files so you could keep a working menu. Then you would need to correct sector start addresses. Then you would most likely need to shrink it if you didn't manipulate the bitrates when you re-encoded the video. If you fooked anything up along the way you would have to redo it.

    Knock yourself out.

EDIT: Can I ask why you need to do this ? Are you selling them ? Trying to widen your ebay market perhaps ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

I convert PAL DVD to NTSC DVD-R but you can pretty much forget keeping original menus etc.

I do have a stand alone DVD player that does excellent PAL to NTSC conversion but I also like to do the conversions because you can eek out slightly better quality that way (well sometimes) and you can bring that new kewl import movie to a party to show off without having to lug your DVD player in as well hehehe

  7. I've just finished reauthoring a complete PAL DVD (with menus) to NTSC using Scenarist, and if you want a GOOD recomendation... just buy a good DVD palyer that can convert on-the-fly. It IS a difficult process and if you don't want to lose as much time as I did, go buy a new player.

For $5K according to here, I'd want it to contain some advanced features too.
    If in doubt, Google it.
