  1. I have an MPEG file copied off a DVD, which is not in the visual format I wish it to be. It is a 16:9 image rendered as 4:3, so the image is horizontally "squashed" and the speaker's face looks "thin". What I wish to do is to clip off the left and right borders (total 25% of image) and horizontally stretch the middle 75% of the MPEG video to give the image the correct proportions, so the face doesn't look like something out of Versailles hall of mirrors.

    The final destination is a 320 x 240 MPEG file for web presentation.

    Is there a tool which will let me do that quickly and without spending too much money? Thank you.
