My standalone CD player happily plays most mp3 cdr's. but it won't play the last couple cd's and i figure it's because they are all mono 56kbps audio books... is there a way I can 'tag' a mono mp3 stream so that a player that expects to see stereo files will play it? I dont want to have to decode, copy L to R channel, and reencode.. is there a quicker way? I have over 800 megabytes of material encoded at 56kbps mono, so i do need a quick solution...

  2. i know cooledit pro/adobe audition will do a batch file convert where you could select all the files, tell it what you want done and where you want it saved to. Then go to bed I'm not sure if the bitrate would be a problem as well...

it should make no difference whether it's mono or not. you can try using ffmpeggui, and turn it into a ac-3 file. ac-3 is a dvd compliant audio format and should be able to be read by any dvd player
