Not sure if this is where this is supose to go but..........................
I just got the new Pioneer AVIC-N1 in car dvd player screen with built in navigation. The nav is DVD based and I would like to make a back-up of the disc so I won't have to keep the origional in my car (replacement value of this disc is $300!!!!). However I have only ever backed-up my DVD Videos ,never a "data" DVD. Could anyone give me some tips so I don't make too many caosters with my little "experiment"?
Any opinions are welcome.

I think the easiest way would be to use DVD Decrypter in ISO Write mode.
If in doubt, Google it. -
Open the disk in Explorer. If it's files and folders, why should you not be able to make a direct copy, as you would any CD Data disk.
It should not have Region, or Macro, or CSS or anything.
Copy with "Ignore errors", etc, just as a CD.
You are NOT going to damage the original.
And, I am assuming the data is in a Windows readable format. Hell, the OS in the GPS might be Linux, hence a Win unreadable file system.
Cheers,
George
