I know this post doesn't directly have anything to do with DVD, AVI, MPEG, etc. But I need help bad and I know there are quite a few smart people here.
Whenever I attempt to install a program that uses MSI(Windows installer) I get an error message saying that "Windows Installer Service could not be accessed." It says I am either running it in safe mode or it is corrupted. It advises me to talk to a customer service assistant. I have searched Windows.com for a reinstallation package of Windows Installer, but I am told it is already built into XP so I cannot download it. I have searched everywhere for a solution, but cannot find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, My internet provider informed me that I was sending out SPAM. I replied to them that I wasn't and they advised me that hackers maybe the problem. I scanned my computer and discoverd that I had over 2,500 Trojan Horses and viruses that hackers used to take control of my computer. Anyway, after I attempted to install Norton Antivirus 2004 to get rid of the problem, thats when the problem occured with the Windows Installer. I did some research and it seems that certain trojans attach themselves to the registry files or something and prevent any antivirus programs that needs the Windows installer to be installed on my computer. I've installed an antivirus program and deleted all the viruses and trojans, but I'm still unable to use windows installer to install any programs. Please Help

format ur hard drive.....thats what id do
unless u have stuff u desperately need to keep -
What do you mean "format" my hard drive. Will this solve my problem of not being able to install programs that need the windows installer?
-
Format means to install winxp by deleting the partition and install a fresh copy and this will cure all your problems, choose delete partition when installing and format with ntfs partition.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
I think an important question to ask is: Do you have your original Windows XP install disks? Do you have a CD with a valid product code?
You will need this before you can re-install Windows XP.
