You've ripped and burned hundreds (if not thousands?) of backups...
I'm curious how well the CPU chip and DVD recorder hold up after such intensive use... Which hardware have you seen wear out first, and how often?![]()

You're fine.
Just use the burner to burn (not read, not CD, etc), and you'll be good. Also keep it clean, free of dust, and don't let dirty discs into it.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Alright, not trying to toot my own horn here, but I've probably run my processor at 100% in single batches longer than you'll ever run yours at 100% total. Both machines are fine, even the old Celeron holds up under my abuse. I'm talking several years worth of use too, sometimes for days on end, for all kinds of things, especially video processing.

As for the drive, that can be a real crap shoot! I have had drives fail at under 200 burns(PioneerAO5),and I have a Sony 500a with over 1500 burns. The Sony is still going, although it is now my third string backup.I have seen no indication of the cpu being damaged with my burning.Between home and work,I have over 20,000 dvd backups! Yes,that is correct,Twenty Thousand! These are pretty much all legit copies! School concerts, year books and such.
