I want to edit ifo file so that the main movie starts in a dvd, and not the 2-3 small 10-15 second movies. I like for the DVD to start right at the main menu or on the movie.

I think there is a guide around here that will show how to do this in a very simple way, but I can't find it.

Can you point me in the right direction?

    thanks!

  2. I have this guide , which i havent tried yet. I also thank the original, who ever that was.

Using IFOEdit v0.95 or v0.96, browse to the directory that contains the IFO and VOB files. Open the VIDEO_TS.IFO file.

In the lower window of IFOEdit, take note of the section labeled "Number of Title Play Maps" and in particular remember the Title number that has the most chapters (as this will generally be the main movie). Most DVDs have title 1 as the main movie, but it could just as well be any title number.

In the upper window of IFOEdit, double click on the VMGM_MAT line item (which will be the first item under the path of the VIDEO_TS.IFO file). This will reveal the "First Play PGC" line item.
Click on the First Play PGC. This will change the contents of the lower window to show the information associated with this item.

In the lower window, scroll down to the section labeled "PGC Command Table." There will be at least one Pre Command. Generally the last Pre Command in the list will be something like

    (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 2

    or

(JumpSS_VMGM) Jump to VideoManager PGC: 2

Sometimes there are a number of commands that preceed the last one that sets a number of general purpose registers, but usually this can be ignored.

What you want to do is right click on (most likely) the last Pre Command and and select "Edit Command" and change the existing command to a JumpTT to the title number that contains the main movie. Usually this is sufficient to cause the main movie to start immediately upon inserting the DVD into the player. However, some DVDs (notably Disney) make a lot of decisions based upon the values set in the general purpose registers and it can become more complicated to figure out how to achieve the desired results (typically it involves going to the IFO file of the main movie VOB set and altering the PGC Command Table there in addition to modifying the table in the VIDEO_TS.IFO file). It is beyond the scope of this response to try to explain all of this.

Once you have made the necessary changes, save the VIDEO_TS.IFO file (as well as the VIDEO_TS.BUP by answering YES to the dialog box that will pop up).

Until you are comfortable with this method, you may want to back up the IFO and BUP files that you end up modifying. The is good practice in case you make a mistake and want to go back to the original files.

    Hope this helps.

  4. You can jump directly to the title as joe's guide suggested but your menu (if you need it) most likely won't function properly (and it's not just Disney; it's most commercial DVDs). To do it properly you need to modify the navigation but it's a very complex job (as the guide also states), you need to track everything that happens from the First Play PGC to the main movie.

It's easier to delete the playback with IfoEdit. When you open an IFO file scroll down to the bottom. There you have all the Menu PGCs. Double-click on each and will play the video. If you don't want it click on Delete Playback. Take caution though because some menu PGCs are made up of more than one program (i.e. it plays a small video, then the menu, then another small video) and if you delete the playback it's for the whole PGC hence your menu won't work.
