Is a dvd+r with bitsetting set to dvd-rom make a more player compatible disc than a dvd-r?
Anyone with practical experience?

no. dvd-rom is for your computer. Alot of times your stand-alone player will not play it.

A lot of DVD-ROM drives such as some made by Matshita require you to bitset your DVD+Rs or else they will not play them (they play DVD-Rs fine). Since my Optorite burner does not support bitsetting, I can not really verify this with experience. As for player compatibilty, I thought itcould help?

Yes bitsetting a DVDr + to DVD-ROM is the most compatible making it 98% compatible with all players (as I've seen it stated). A store bought movie is booktype = DVD-ROM, it's not just for computers, so the answer is yes (it may be the only way to get some older players to play a DVDr).

As you can see, my original copy of 'Journey 2001' has been correctly identified as being a Pressed DVD adhering to the DVD-ROM media/book types...
EDIT: You're getting awfully fast with the 'Edit' button gitreel...
