you need to encode it in tmpgnc first. Just drop your pic and your audio file in it.Use the dvd template

Hi efiste2,
1. Open TMPGEnc Plus (the encoder, not the authoring tool) and click File -> New.
2. Load the relevant template you wanna use. If you want to make changes, then load the "unlock.mcf" template found in the "\...\Template\Extra\" directory. It won't change anything, but will allow you to make changes.
3. Choose your .bmp / .jpg as your AVI source (at the bottom of the window).
4. Choose your desired audio source (same place).
5. Select "System (Video + Audio)" option.
6. Click on "Start" (top left).
You'll get an .mpg with the picture and the sound in one file.

i tried what you said but when i choose my JPG i get an error. "Invalid Video Source"
does the jpg have to have some special attributes, its JPG from my digital camera. -

On a totally unrelated note, I see you're in Melbourne. I only mention it coz I'm moving out there in July(ish) sort of time. Any hints, tips, nice areas to live / areas to avoid, any good restaurants and pubs etc. are welcome (PM me) as it's quite daunting a prospect to start from scratch. thanks for the advice, i have managed to join an audio track onto a bmp image but when i create the dvd and watch it back on the PC rather than burn it the picture displays and the sound can be heard for less than a second, the option for BGM music ticked in tmpgenc authour so im stuck what to do next, the audio only plays for a fraction of a second

if i just click on the file out of the created vob file it plays fine , but if i play back the created vob file (as though i was watching the created DVD) the sound plays just for a milli second then stops

i burn the finished article using RNMAX into TS Folders and have never had any problem that way, now i want to move upwards and create a menu with audio but as i have explained it doenst seem to work, ive looked in every setting in tmpgenc authour for a sound setting but cant find one, by the way when i click on the blank menu screen to create a background it plays the music in the select file box! the only thing i can thing of is that once i read somwhere you have to create a slideshow file to add audio to a menu??

i have its set at 35 seconds at them moment, but isnt that to set the length that the small thumbnail motion optiosn play for ?

do you mean one of my authored dvds, as i have'nt been able to make one with audio yet! or do you mean a store bought DVD
excuse my naivity, and thanks for keeping with me on this

No. Go through and author your DVD with TMPGEnc DVD Author so that it creates the IFO, BUP and VOB files on your hard drive. Play these VOB files with Power DVD.
If in doubt, Google it.
