Plenty of problems here.
I have had some success burning files to VCD using Roxio Easy DVD Creator 6 (the DVD Builder part) but it wont accept files that are ripped/made with DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter, When i drag and drop the ripped files to the Roxio Creator,it tells me that the file contains sound in AC3 which it does not support, and that it will come out silent on the VCD once it is burned. To prove it,i tried it and it was silent, although the video came out fine.
As far as i can tell, there is no way in either of those ripping programs to change the audio type so that Roxio will recognise it.
I can use DVD Decrypter to burn the disc apparently, but i want to make discs with menus.
But even so,i thought i would try it.From the menu bar I chose MODE / IS / WRITE W Then it asks me to select the file to be burned. But when i go to the folder where the ripped file is,there is nothing there, yet it went through the ripping procedure, and told me it is in that folder.
I like DVD Shrink because I can alter the compression so that i can make things smaller to fit on a VCD,but i have the same issue with the sound when trying to burn it to disc with Roxio. Also it wont work with files that are stored on the hard drive, only files in a disc drive.(If this is wrong, let me know how to shrink a locally stored file!)
I also use EazyVCD to rip DVD's,and i came accross a problem there when ripping an 84 minute movie.Today i selected XVCD,because it allows me to select the amount of discs i want it on.I assume that it compresses it enough to fit on one VCD.But when it had encoded etc and was all done,it was too big to fit on one disc.
I also have DVD2VCD,but this one is a pain in the ass and i find it too complicated
I have all these programs on my PC,and i am yet to find a winning combination that works !
Basically I want to fit a movie onto 1 VCD by using a program to rip and compress it sufficiently to fit,and use Roxio DVD Creator 6 to burn it without getting these stupid Audio error messages.I like Roxio because of the easy interface/drag and drop ,and you get to preview your disc.
I have Nero 5.5.7.2 which does menus but very basic. Is there a newer version of Nero which may be better for what i want ?
Any ideas ?
cheers
andrew
