  1. This is starting to really aggravate me...........

Where should I begin? I had normal TMPGEnc and it would not read my MPEG2 Video files.

I was told to upgrade to TMPGEnc PLUS and so I did.
Then....I was told I needed a plug-in for the TMPGEnc PLUS to DECODE MPEG2 Vidoe.....and after wrestling with the stupid plugin for about 5 hours, I figured it out. NOW, TMPGEnc will STILL NOT read my MPEG2............
What the heck is the deal....im about to go insane. Also, Ill be suprised if 5% of the people that actual view this topic actual feel the kindness to offer help.....that seems to be how it goes.
PLEASE help me with this...ive been struggling with it for serveral days now.

  2. Open up TMPG and then click on "option." When the dropdown box appears choose "environmental setting." Then click on the vfapi plug-in tab. You should see "MPEG-2 VIDEO Plug-in" with a box next to it. Make sure the box is checked. Look to the right in the priority section. Make sure you see a number 1. If not, right click on the file name and when the drop down box appears choose "higher priority." Do this until the priority is 1 then try to open the mpg2 file.

  3. Yea it was already at 1. I really appreciate your continued help your giving me.....however, im starting to think its futile, and that its never going to work..

Are there any other programs that I can use, to trim the video clips? By trim I mean remove unwanted video( i.e. commercials)
    Preferrably a free program.

  4. There are a couple of programs in the tools section which may help you since you only want to cut out commercials. MPEG2cut to cut out the commercials, and filemerger to join the non commercial parts together after you cut the commercials. You would basically be cutting the film into parts and joining together the movie parts without the commercials. Just for the record, what kind of error message did TMPG give you after you finally figured out the plugin?

have you got the Cyberlink Mpeg2 decoder on the plug-in page. Mine uses that for mpeg2 files. It comes with PowerDVD.
I also had the Ligos mpeg2 decoder but had to untick it or make it a lower priority than the Cyberlink decoder to get mpeg2 files to be accepted.

  6. After I got the plugin to work, it gave me the same blasted error as before it was working..

it kept saying that the file could not open or is unsupported.

    Frameserve to TMPGenc.
    For mpeg 2, use DVD2avi.

  8. SatStorm is right, normally the best way is DVD2AVI. Also what type of MPEG2 file are you trying to load into TMpgenc?

  9. The old version 1.x of Mpeg2Cut has a lot of compatibility problems.

Try version 2 - Mpg2Cut2 - which resolves a number of issues from Version 1, and adds a number of new features.

Download the latest version of Mpg2Cut2 at
    http://www.geocities.com/rocketjet4/

If you are having problems with Version 1,
then give Version 2 a try.

For cutting VOBs, I recommend the following::
    - "menu - Output - Preamble - MAXIMUM"
    - Also use "PVAStrumento" from Offerynto fix timecodes..

You are in breach of the forum rules and are being issued with a formal warning.

I personally use Virtualdub-mpeg2 if I need to edit out commercials etc. Just load your mpeg2 into it, do your virtual editing without actually physically altering the original file, then frameserve directly it to TMPGenc with the built-in frameserver - works for me![/quote]
