  1. Ok this is a legitimate copy question. I have a DV camcorder and a DVD-R recorder (samsung)

I transfered my video to the dvd-r drive. worked great !! but the samsung makes this default butt ugly generic menu. I want it gone !!

I have used DVD Movie Factory in the past and it allowed you to make a dvd with NO menu. insert into player and it simply plays.

how do I "reburn" my home video dvd-r without menu's ? I import into dvd movie factory and it takes FOREVER (something like 10 minutes) and it generates 40mpg files in the working folder. I want it to simply REUSE the vob files ! NO CONVERSION !!

I selected do not convert compliant files etc.. no joy.

I know its converting since the original dvd is 58 minutes (just some stuff from a birthday party) and just under 2gig (2 vob files) yet the 40mpg files the program gets are 5.04 gig !!! will not even fit on a dvd-r

I know how to extract the vobs using dvd decrypter (do I even need to do that since its not encrypted or anything IE can I just drag and drop the files ??)

how do I then REBURN these files to a DVD WITHOUT a menu and WITHOUT touching them NO conversion etc..

also if I DO want to make a menu (this ones short so there is no need) is there a program that will let me make a menu and use my existing vobs again without conversion.

I do not mind waisting a dvd-r its only 70 cents I DO mind waisting hours on unneccessary conversions etc.. I just want a dvd without that butt ugly default menu that the samsung makes.

any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I would love to use dvd movie factory. I am familiar with it etc.. (at least for the menu desired discs) but for the no menu discs I will use ANYTHING. I will soon have an 8x drive (although will only be using 4x discs for now for cost reasons) I want the fastest possible way to simply REBURN a home video without any menu's ie NO converting just reuse the vob files on the dvd-r

    Thanks

    have you tried DVDShrink ?

you should be able to do a reauthor selecting the movie only.

guides on how to do this are here www.dvdshrink.info

  3. well movie is all I have (this really is just home movies straight from my cam corder) I shot a few movies with the DV camcorder (stopped using it going back to my mpeg10w) I found I can also hook my hitachi up to the dvd recorder (found the video audio out cables for it !!)

if you mean grab just the movie and drop the menu's then that is what I want I will give it a shot. its already under dvd5 (its on a dvd-r)

will let you know what happens but I am not sure if it will do what I want.

  4. Despite the name, dvdshrink will strip out the menu if you do the movie-only reauthoring and not touch the size of the video if it's already small enough to fit on a dvdr. It'll basically copy the files to the hard drive in a video_ts folder (with only the movie vobs) and then reburn it so it'll play as soon as you pop it in.
