  1. k linux nub here so ive got some questions i didnt find in the forum already

    1. which linux tool could convert svcd to vcd and which packets are required to compile it.

    2. i got some tools like transcode. when i start the ./configure it says no (not available) for some missing packets. the readme said that would be okay but when i run make/make install i get a lot of error messages and the prog seems not to be installed so wheres my fault?

  2. i finally did it with

    transcode -y mpeg -F v,1

but the quality is real crap, a lot of wrong colour and a green error at the bottom.

wrong transcode settings or do i have to use another exportmodule?

Not that many Linux/transcode experts here, I'm afraid (excuses to everyone who is!) - You might get better help on the transcode mailing list!

Which distro you using? If Mandrake go out to the Penguin Liberation Front and set up your ftp sources. Then in a shell in root do a urpmi transcode. It should dl and install all requirements for transcode. Then go to freshmeat and look for Kavi2svcd. This is a gui to do exactly what you want. Giving options to select color, size mirror and flipping image and all the way to burning it in one easy gui. It is slower than I would like but it works were Tmpgenc and the like have faild for me. :P

Why don't you just keep it in SVCD ?
    VCds look terrible.

    hi... just try with vcdimager...

vcdxrip to rip the svcd to hard disk... then
    vcdimager -t vcd11/'vcd2

    and that's all
