Hello.
I have tried to make VCD and SVCD with tmpgenc v2 (used PAL templates) and burned them with VCDimager.
This happens on my Philips:
VCD plays fine but no time is displayed.
SVCD plays fine, time is not displayed or displayed incorrect. FF/REW only chapters made by VCDimager.
Is this normal?

I got the same problem with my Philips DVD 751. Apparently this is a problem with all the philips players.

I have a 712 (the same with 722 except black in colour).
For VCDs, I do not know. I have not tried any.
For SVCDs, time is always displayed incorrectly and never immediately after the disc in inserted and starts to play. I have discovered a workaround for this.
Press STOP. The player will stop.
Then open the SYSTEM MENU (not the disc menu) from the remote and with the arrow keys go right to the point when you can jump straight to the title of your choice (a capital "T" on screen). Press the up arrow. The player will start playing title no 1. From there on, you have time displayed whatever you do until you eject the disc.

Hi guys,
I got a problem with my Phillips DVD 730. Lately, I burned my first VCD. So I tried to play it on my DVD Player. But it didn't play at all.
Afterwards I tried to play it on my PC with a DVD software which also supports VCD 2.0. It worked just fine.
Does anybody of you know what the problem could be ?
By the way, I converted the AVI.File with TmegENC. I did everything exactly like it was written in the manual on this site. -
i have the answer for your problem.
enter in system menu, and turn off PCB function.
then i show the time in my philips 720
