Hi,
When I try to convert DV Type 1 avi to MPEG2, I get jerky video when there is motion. When I play back the original video, it is fine and the camera does move a lot, but it is not as jerky as the MPEG2. I am using Cinema Craft Encoder and have played around with settings but it does not seem to work. I have read the CCE manual as well, and still no luck. Somoene on another post suggested it might be the field order, but I do not know how to change the field order in CCE. In TMPEG, there is an option, but is there an option in CCE? Also, what settings do you guys use when converting DV? I have checked the guides, but no luck. Maybe you guys have more experience, I am sure someone uses CCE even though TMPEG is more popular.
Thank you all!

Could be that different versions of CCE differ from each other but the version I have has an option called, "Upper field first" and it check marked by default.
So if you uncheck mark it that changes the field order.

BTW the problem you have definately sounds like incorrect field order.

if you are using 2.67 or later under the advanced-video change the offset line entry to a 1 instead of a zero it should work.

Hello,
Thanks for your help, i chaned the field order but it does not seem to make any difference. I captured my original footage from a SONY DCR-TRV33 Mini DV Camcorder. Do DV sources have the "upper field first" or "1"?
Thanks! -
IF DV is lower field first, in Cinema Craft Encoder, in the OFFSET LINE field, is that a "1" or "0"?
Thanks! -

P.S.
Another reason this could be happening is if you did some cropping and "shifted" the field order."The eyes are the first thing that you have to destroy ... because they have seen too many bad things" - Lucio Fulci

try a 1 or 3, i had this problem a few months ago. it worked when i changed it to 1. i used dvio to capture type 2 and have no problems converting high motion home soccer videos with cce and then using tmpgenc dvd author to finish it off.

I maybe off the beaten track here but I converted an AVI file once and it seemed like it was missin frames and was being Jerky. A noticeable glitch, yet it was in audio sync etc. Turned out it was a problem with XVID codec and Directshow from the NIMO pack i installed.
Maybe doesnt count for DV footage but worth a shot.
